Birch is about 5.5 miles from the centre of Colchester and is just of the B1022, although it is called Birch walk we did not actually walk through the village. The walk started by parking the car on a road junction which was originally part of the road making it a triangle type junction.
Details of Walk

This walk was out of our book named Essex A Dog Walker's Guide. As Colchester is one of the most important sites of the Roman occupation in Britain and this walk takes us to Gosbecks Archaeological park where carefully etched on the ground, the outlines of two important buildings dating back to AD 100 can be seen.
We left the car only the two of us this time and of course the dogs and no Michael today and we walked down a wide track to the right of Birch Park Lodge keeping to this track between what could have been a deer park and then we reached a road by the second lodge and here we turned right.
