Gosfield is a beautiful village and it is not very far from us. The scene is set by Gosfield Hall which stands in grounds rich with cedars and shrubberies. Enclosed in the parkland's is a magnificent lake of 50 acres now given over to water sports and swimming and the house is used for wedding receptions. Queen Elizabeth 1 did indeed sleep here in the Hall as the guest of Lord Rich, who at the time owned a great part of the county. Gosfield church stands in a corner of the park. Its foundations are much older than the Hall.

The present building dates from 1435 and the monumental brass of Sir Thomas Rolfe is one of the best in the county. The church is where you start the walk from and it was a most beautiful morning that you could have wished for, just look at the sky in the photo of the church not a cloud insight. This walk takes you over rolling countryside and through a nature reserve which all the time we had lived in Braintree we had not realized that there was one.

I managed to get a few photos of a tractor ploughing in the stubble left by the wheat which was lucky being in the right place at the right time. We also had quite a long chat with a man walking his dog and he was telling us about some walks he had been on and telling us that he finds it easier to walk up hills instead of down and also about how he transformed his garden into a pond.

The walk went past this lovely garden that I have seen many times driving past so I had a closer look and the reason it always caught my eye was because it was set out in a country garden theme with all sorts of flowers growing just where they like. Look through the photo's as I had to take one, but unfortunately talking about photo's I did not get one of the Hall we went close to it but the view of it was blocked by trees. When we got back to the church we decided to drive down to the lake so we could get a better view of it. We were in luck also as they were water skiing an I was able to get some photos. As Tracey keeps her horse stabled nearby we gave her a ring to see if she was there or not and she was so we went along and watched her doing some jumping and this was the first time we had seen her new horse Tod.
