Hadstock is the most northerly village in Essex, less than a mile from the border of Cambridgeshire. Nestling in among little hills, the village is watched over by the church on a hill.
Details of Walk
Date of Walk: 13/02/2011
Distance: 5.26 Miles
Level of Difficulty: A Moderate Walk
Car Park: At the Church CB21 4PH
Refreshments: The Kings Head, Various pubs in Linton, A Garage on the A1307 for snacks
This is where we started the walk from the village hall car park which is behind the church, from here we walked down into the village then up out through the playing field. Then it was up hill to the highest point of Haws hill where you can see in front of you Linton and looking back you see Hadstock. We went over a bridge and a Dismantled railway line. We walked into Linton where you first come to the church.
After walking through Linton the walk takes you through a Malting's which leads you on to the Icknield way which we had to keep walking on a incline for a mile before we turned off the Icknield way. Just as we left the car we had a few spots of rain and then nothing till we got back to the car when it started again, I reckon we were lucky that day as all the time it looked as though it could rain.
