The parish lies above the river Roding and the area is quite hilly for Essex. We started the walk from the forest car park which is opposite the Pub called Camelot and walk up past the pub past Hop Pole Farm.

Then there should have been a concrete footpath sign on the right saying on Field but the only one we could find was one saying footpath so thinking that we might not have got to it we carried on then we came to a road on the right so we realised we had made a mistake, but rather than walk back we followed the road. We came to a footpath sign and realised this was where we would have come out and also in the distant you could see Canary Wharf in London which was mentioned in the book. Here I decided to get my camera out of the haversack and take some pictures of Canary Wharf but I forgot to put the SD card into camera, so no pictures and I had to carry the camera all the way round for nothing. One day when we are that way we will have to drive round and take some photos so I can add them to the web-site. We also went wrong when we got to the forest on the map I have shown where we went and where we should have gone, should have taken OS map instead of relying on the book alone. Lambourne church has a wooden tower like Stock church but this one the spire is painted white.
