Lavenham is possibly one of the best preserved medieval towns in England with all its lovely old timber frame buildings with many pubs, tea rooms and quaint shops, the main hotel is a timber framed building and looks if over time it has got a lot bigger by taken over existing buildings next to it.

It is Wit sun bank holiday weekend and we decided that it was about time we done another walk this year as it had been along time since we had done one and we decided to do a Suffolk walk. We got to Lavenham and parked in the church car park for free but it was very busy as they had a farmers market there
We left the car park and turned right heading into town for a short while then turned right into Bear's Lane and headed up hill out of the town. After the last house we took the footpath which took us across a field to the next one and then followed the hedge to bring us out on to the road again. When we got to a converted barn we bared left and then walked round Bear's farm where they are building a very large house.Once round the outskirts of the farm we followed a path with a hedge on our left and field on our right.
Along this path a couple and a dog came up behind us and we had a chat and ended up walking with them to the Cock at Brent Eleigh where they were going to have a meal. They were farmers and had a small farm called ClayHill Farm which we would go past later on . The farm is arable and said that there was not so much to do this time of year. The lady was quite knowledgeable on nature, she pointed out a Hawk and a Kestrel and also Badger Poo.
After saying goodbye to them we walked across the A1141 and into Brent Eleigh with this lovely tudor brick and timber building and then it was over the river and up hill past St Mary's church on the left.
A little bit further the road swings to the right and this is where we turned left by a footpath sign.
From now on we were following a path between trees and tall hedges with occasional glimpse of the countryside. about halfway along the path we decided to have lunch. we found a grassy area to sit on and enjoy our lunch while also enjoying the scenery. Just as we had finished we felt a few drops of rain, so it was on with the macs. It was not to heavy the rain but enough to get wet but it was not much longer before we went past Crayhill farm and then into Lavenham where we had a good look round admiring all the lovely buildings.
