Well for a change the walk does not start from a pub it starts from the Station at Manningtree. After about 900 yards you come to the sea wall where you follow the wall with the river Stour on your right till you come to Judas Gap then across the weir where you come to Flatford Mill on the over side of the bank.Cross over the river and you are at the mill where Constable had painted a lot of his paintings. There is a lovely tea room where we could not resist a cup of coffee and carrot cake that is made on the premises
Details of Walk
Date of Walk: 27/09/2009
Distance: 4.34 Miles
Car Park: Manningtree Station CO11 2HH
Refreshments: Station platform or at Flatford Mill.
I got a bit snap happy round here as you will see as there is so much to shoot, also there was a lot of people painting and sketching. It was a beautiful day and we could have just stayed there a lot longer taken in the Constable feeling. We had to head back the way we had come to join the walk again but a lot of people were going the other way the popular way if you have come from Dedham Village.

Oh I forgot to say if you like you can hire out rowing boats or there is boat trips as well. We went through Lawford park where the Hall and the church stand proudly on the hill over looking Manningtree, the river Stour and Suffolk. From here you walk down to the station and wait for it on the platform there is a buffet room where you can buy a pint or two,we stopped here and sat outside on the patio which was quite strange sitting there with the trains coming by. If we were star rating the walks we would give this a 10 plus.
