Margaretting Tye is very small and as the word "Tye" means a settlement around a common or green and is a fitting description for this small hamlet. We had company on this walk as Sam was doing something else Tracey decided to join us which is nice as you can have a good chat while walking. Well we started the walk a bit different this time as Tracey was hungry we decided to eat first in The White Hart and guess what we had fish finger sandwiches and they were really good.

Apparently the pub had been moved to its present site about 300 yards to the north east it is known locally as Tigers Island. The 'Island' derived from the fact that when the river Wid flooded and the rose it never quite reached as high as the pub. The 'Tigers' were the railway builders last century who got dressed up to visit the pub each weekend. on the walk you get some good views of Wide valley and takes you past Ingatestone church across the railway line where there used to be a halt used in the second world war which was used for unloading ammunition which was stored in Rook Wood. after crossing the railway line we could not pick up the walk to well so decided to walk up the road and join it later on the old A12 at the Red Lion the from here we picked up the walk and the rest of the walk you are following part of St. Peters Way across water meadows.
