The pub is called The Prince of Wales and stands on a old Roman road which used to be the old A12 and before it was a pub it was a bakery, drawing its flour from supplies from the windmill across the road. We had company on this walk Christine's brother Michael and he was not really prepared shoe wise and we had a lot off rain so we went for the road option at the beginning rather than across a couple of fields that had just been ploughed. The walk takes you near to the entrance off Ingatestone Hall which was not open, but during the summer a visit would be good.
