When we got to Stanford Rivers we had to drive through the village to find the starting point at The White Bear but when we got to the end of the village we could not find it so we turned right up a lane that led to the church and then ended up at the start of the village again.

We asked some one directions and she said the pub had closed and turned into a house now. We decided to leave the car and walk as it would be easier to find, the girl said that there was still a bear painted on the front door window, well after walking the length of the village we still could not find it so we returned to the car and drove right through the village and a little way out and there it was, it was a shame that the directions we got did not tell us that it was out of the village. We eventually started the walk where you cross the river Roding and across a field to a wood and it was lovely to see the bluebells making a carpet of blue under the trees.

We next went past a large lake called Lady's pond which is private to a fishing club, there was geese on the lake. We then came to Navestock church which we had already seen when we down the Navestock Side walk. The one thing that sticks out is the owl looking thing on the ridge of the roof with the wings that moved in the wind probably to frighten of birds of some kind.On the walk you get some super views of the Roding valley.
